Children’s surgery for adult surgeons and urologists
Date(s) - 07/09/2017
This important symposium will update adult surgeons and urologists on current practices in common children’s surgical conditions.
This general surgery of childhood has become a challenging and contentious area of clinical practice in the past 10 years. Adult surgeons and urologists who undertook this work are retiring, and the new generation of adult consultants do not have the experience or training to deal with surgical problems in children. Changes to the curriculum in adult general surgery and urology will mandate that this work could become core to their practice again.
A number of national reports have highlighted the importance of delivering this work locally. In addition, transition of children who have undergone complex surgery into the adult sector has also posed difficulties.
We plan to address some of these issues during this symposium.
