Prostate cancer risk checker success
So far this autumn 85 037 men have used the Prostate Cancer UK (PCUK) prostate cancer risk-checker and 67 199 men have been advised to talk to their GP about the risk of having the disease and the pros and cons of having a PSA test.
According to PCUK the impact of COVID-19 has meant thousands of men across the UK have undetected cancer and risk being diagnosed late when it is harder to treat. To help combat this problem the charity devised the 30-second risk checker that asks three simple questions about age, ethnicity and family history – key indicators of prostate cancer risk.
Where risk is high the checker advises men to talk to their GPs about a PSA test. Materials are also available to help men ask the right questions and understand the options.
